Hot Metal Detector

Hot Metal Detectors are used across the metal & steel industry in many different applications – detection, tracking and length control.

Due to their rugged design and construction, our HMDs are suitable for operation in harsh industrial environments – steam, water, dust, shock, vibration, oil – continuously for many years. Internal temperature compensation circuits render the HMD suitable for high ambient temperature conditions.*

IR sensors in the HMD activate when the radiation received from the hot object exceeds certain value, whereupon the electrical switching circuit is activated.

* For ambient temperature above 60°C, appropriate air or water cooling must be provided for long life and reliability of the HMD.
